Teaching Collaboration with the Melilla Hospital
The Regenerative Medicine Unit of Imatde Arthrosport has made a surgical teaching collaboration in the Hospital de Melilla last week. Dr. Ferrer Señoráns was invited by Dr. Sánchez Castillo (Head of COT Service), Dr. Cortés Carmona and Dr. Hernández Quiñonero (Knee Unit) of Melilla Hospital to a technical meeting and to perform a biological knee subchondroplasty in the operating room. This technique belongs to the group of cartilage preservation therapies, which are especially indicated in young patients with chondral lesions.
👨⚕️Dr Ferrer Señoráns has designed a very effective technique for obtaining bone marrow concentrates, which are processed and implanted in the subchondral bone where the cartilage lesion is located.
The Arthrosport group has extensive experience in minimally invasive Orthobiologic techniques related to cartilage preservation in young and middle-aged athletes.
Minimally Invasive Anterior Hip Surgery
The minimally invasive anterior approach to hip replacement is the most advanced surgical technique for implanting a total hip prosthesis. Its advantages are clear:
1. The approach is intermuscular, so the damage to muscles and tendons is minimal.
2. This minimizes postoperative pain and speeds up the mobilization phase after surgery.
Lower risk of dislocation and lower rate of revision surgery due to loosening of the implant than in the posterior approach.
The Hip Unit of IMATDE by ARTHROSPORT in Malaga (Dr Doncel, Dr Ferrer, Dr Tamimi and Dr Corrales) perform this type of minimally invasive surgical approach in hip arthroplasties to improve the functional recovery indicators in this type of surgeries. This approach can be used in any type of patient and physical condition.
At ARTHROSPORT we are aware that in the next 10 years, 90% of hip replacements will be carried out using this approach and we are firmly convinced that when we innovate as a team we all grow and benefit our patients, who are the true protagonists of these new advances.
Knee Osteotomy
Knee osteotomy is a very useful surgical intervention in relatively young patients where there is an important symptomatic cartilage lesion, in knees with axis deviation. The most frequent deviation in our environment is genu varum (bowlegged).
This is one of our surgical cases of the Regenerative Medicine and Chondral Preservation Unit of IMATDE ARTHROSPORT, in Malaga.
New advances in cartilage treatments mean that this type of intervention must be taken into account in our therapeutic arsenal, since if the deviation of the knee axis is corrected or improved, the treatments on the cartilage are much more effective and long-lasting, preventing the young patient from needing a total knee prosthesis at an early stage.
📍ℹ️ We invite you to follow our channel, as very soon we will start a series of very practical informative capsules, with all the information about the most cutting-edge techniques in the medical and surgical treatment of cartilage lesions.
Surgical Repair of Achilles Tendon Rupture
SPEEDBRIDGE technique for Achilles tendon rupture.
Achilles tendon ruptures are a common sports injury that can have serious consequences if not diagnosed correctly and in time. Subtotal or complete ruptures may require surgical treatment. We present some of our surgeries performed at IMATDE ARTHROSPORT in Malaga, using a system of instrumentation that allows to considerably reduce the size of the incisions, while allowing the anchoring and reinforcement of the tendon at a distance, passing the suture threads percutaneously. This type of surgery offers a very safe and resistant suture, which allows a very early mobilization and physiotherapy. In ARTHROSPORT we have surgical units specialized in the treatment of acute and chronic injuries of muscles and tendons.
GESMUTE: Muscle and Tendon Study Group
Drs Ferrer Señoráns and Alvarez Rey from IMATDE ARTHROSPORT in Malaga, were elected members of the study group GESMUTE (Muscle and Tendon Study Group). Dr Ferrer Señoráns collaborates in the study group of new surgical techniques and Dr Alvarez Rey in diagnostic imaging techniques. GESMUTE is a multidisciplinary scientific society formed by traumatologists, sports physicians, physiotherapists, histologists, physiologists, biologists, biochemists, anatomists and physical therapists. With multiple scientific meetings, working groups and publications, it aims to respond to the challenges of muscle and tendon sports injuries, developing treatment algorithms by multidisciplinary consensus and creating new minimally invasive surgical techniques. The Arthrosport group is firmly committed to the research and development of new therapies to treat pathologies of the locomotor system.
3 Keys to the Onset of Osteoarthritis in Young Patients
The appearance of cartilage lesions and osteoarthritis at an earlier age than usual is a problem that can have serious repercussions on joint health. It is very important to take into account and treat, if necessary, any element that may favor the appearance of cartilage wear.
We present one of our educational videos for patients, where we explain in a clear and simple way, the 3 most important keys that can contribute unfavorably in the appearance of cartilage wear lesions in younger patients.
ARTHROSPORT has specialists in all its medical teams, with extensive experience in the conservative and surgical treatment of this type of pathologies.

IBSA Ibérica Hyaluronic Acid Meeting
"Dr Ferrer Señoráns, Head of the Regenerative Medicine Unit at IMATDE ARTHROSPORT, participated in a working meeting organized by IBSA IBÉRICA yesterday in Marbella.
It was a multidisciplinary meeting of specialists related to the non-surgical therapeutic approach to joint injuries, mainly cartilage problems.
Dr Alberto González Peña, specialist in Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine of the AMS Exercise Medical Center, gave an excellent lecture on the latest advances in joint therapies with Hyaluronic Acid.
Among the most avant-garde novelties, Dr. González Peña highlights the so-called Hybrid Hyaluronic Acids, where hyaluronic acids of different molecular weights and even sodium chondroitin have been combined. These new formulations mean an improvement in the clinical results of osteoarthritis treatments".
Our Regenerative Medicine Unit of IMATDE ARTHROSPORT in Malaga, has the most modern therapeutic strategies in the treatment of joint, muscle and tendon injuries".
